Our Cultural Actions

Convinced that culture is a fundamental pillar of local development, social cohesion, and collective memory, the SMB-Winning Foundation is actively committed to supporting, creating, and promoting cultural, artistic, and heritage spaces in Guinea.

Recent actions

Rehabilitation of the Place des Martyrs in Boké

The SMB-Winning Consortium, in partnership with UMS, has fully renovated the Place des Martyrs in Boké, a central site of local social and cultural life.

The improvements include:

  • Construction of a 412-meter perimeter wall;

  • Landscaping of 1,250 m² of green, tree-filled spaces;

  • A 760 m² pedestrian walkway, modern paving, and a reorganized lighting system;

  • The creation or renovation of a covered podium for ceremonies, public restrooms, a cafeteria, a water tower with a borehole, and more.

Katounou Youth Center

In July 2025, the SMB-Winning Consortium inaugurated a new Youth Center in Katounou, a village in the rural commune of Kolaboui, in the Boké prefecture.

This space is designed as a venue for cultural, artistic, and civic expression for young people, promoting creativity, community activities, and social engagement.

Deren Training Center

Although originally focused on vocational and technical training, the Deren Training Center also helps promote local talent in creative fields through workshops, cultural activities, and team-building initiatives.

Dubréka Theater Festival

As it has done every year for the past seven editions, the SMB-Winning Foundation has supported the Dubréka Festival, dedicated to celebrating Guinean talent and highlighting the essential role of women in the cultural industries.

Through this commitment, the Foundation pursues several objectives:

  • Creating unique opportunities: providing training for young people, platforms of expression for artists, and greater visibility for emerging talents.
  • Promoting heritage and encouraging cultural innovation: making Dubréka a true “City of the Arts” with international influence.
  • Fostering inclusion: placing women at the heart of artistic creation and development.

Values and impact

Through its cultural initiatives, the SMB-Winning Foundation promotes a humanistic and sustainable vision of culture, grounded in memory, youth, and community living.

The rehabilitation of the Place des Martyrs in Boké reflects this commitment to preserving collective heritage while reaffirming local identity. This symbolic site, carefully restored, has regained its place at the heart of civic and cultural life, a tribute to the history and shared values of the community.

At the same time, the creation of spaces such as the Katounou Youth Center provides new generations with a genuine platform for expression, where artistic initiatives, cultural workshops, and social encounters intersect. These venues stimulate creativity, encourage intergenerational exchange, and strengthen the sense of community belonging.

Similarly, the Dubréka Festival embodies this cultural momentum by showcasing Guinean talent and local creativity. By supporting this event, the Foundation fosters the emergence of new artistic expressions, highlights the role of women in culture, and positions Dubréka as a true “City of the Arts” open to the world.

Finally, by supporting the renovation of public spaces and the development of accessible cultural infrastructure, the Foundation actively contributes to strengthening social cohesion. It creates welcoming environments open to all, spaces for gathering, discovery, and dialogue among citizens, all of which are essential levers for community harmony and local development.

A Sustainable Vision of Culture

The SMB-Winning Foundation’s cultural commitment goes beyond one-off initiatives. It is part of a long-term strategy to:

  • Promote access to culture for all (youth, rural communities, and underprivileged areas)
  • Create sustainable cultural infrastructure (spaces, facilities, gathering places)
  • Preserve heritage, local history, and cultural symbols
  • Support local talents, artists, and young people through workshops, creative spaces, and cultural training programs
